If you know someone who'd like to develop paid apps - please direct them to ovi where they will be most welcome, I'm sure.

Don't you think,
it's a right time to start Maemo App Store ?
Nokia Ovi App Store stays for Ovi.
As iPod Touch user I really love an idea of getting access
to a number of fully pretested, fully working applications, showing new features.
So Maemo App Store looks to be an excellent solution
to make progress with Nokia Maemo product line.

As for the idea of an app store, I'm not sure how Nokia is planning on handling commercial apps in Maemo 6, but Maemo 5 has no DRM (which is good). IIRC the Documents to Go app requires payment, but I don't see why you feel the need for an "App Store".
From the OP: "I really love an idea of getting access to a number of fully pretested, fully working applications, showing new features."
That's exactly what Extras is. Yes, there are less applications right now, but not only is that largely because this is a brand new product, you might also notice that most of the apps in there are useful, and good quality, rather than just a gimmick that they can charge 99 cents for. Free doesn't mean that the apps aren't as good. There are many more apps in progress, and once they are considered stable, then they get pushed into Extras. I don't see your issue...
