Question, Is it just me, or is open office a little bloated and unoptimized?
I mean, why bother optimizing when we've got 3 ghz cpus?

Is the version that we run here compiled for ARM or does it run under some kind of emulation?

Second, wouldn't it be great to have an actual ported OO for Maemo that would have a similar interface aswell?

The version we run is compiled for arm, no emulation.
Porting will be difficult

N900 keyboard *works*.
Just while in lxde debian, press once the on/off key of the device and when the screen menu appears, touch the "unfocused" external area. The menu disappears. From now on, keyboard should work.

Yes, it's extremely useful reading, since from the package description (for "users not familiar with the command line") I didn't quite get what it's supposed to give me, and I was having exactly the same prejudices as those you expressed.

What I'm still looking for is the possibility to print from the N900. Does Easy Debian provide CUPS? Could one then also print files retrieved from the web? Is there actually a good, ie. stable, way of doing so for users not shying away from the command line?

Well if you have other means of accessing the file system, you simply have to create a shortcut like this
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=OpenOffice
GenericName=Web Browser
Exec=debbie ooffice -writer
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=ooo-writer
-name it however you want.desktop
-and put it in "/usr/share/applications/hildon/"

I have to admit the command line is becoming quite friendly and easy to use but a basic noob starter guide would help many people especially since there are plenty "lists" with hundreds of commands and arguments you can easily loose yourself into.

It's just you!

Open Office has always been a slug in my opinion. I've usually ran it on Sparcs and it was always a dog.
