Honistly because I have no time for it as my job consumes to much time...
that's why I was looking for a quick solution (and thats probably also why I didn't search enough before posting)
anyway, forget about the whole thing.
To bad I can't delete the post myself (or am I overlooking something in my hurry now aswell?)

I've seen enough here....
way to offensive people, I wonder how you guys are in real life....
no wonder Nokia gives sh*t about the 'community' this way....

What's wrong with a step-by-step guide?

Of course many "uber-geeks" here like to think they are special.

The last thing they need is to encourage other technically-minded people to try MeeGo and diminish their special club.

Go to MeeGo forums - hopefully more helpful.

Sadly, many on here have taken it upon themselves to attack newcomers who don't know the netiquette of forums.

Don't judge everyone on here by the actions of the few.

You gotta remember, there is a general feeling of grumpiness on here either caused by frustration with Nokia or, in some cases, frustration at those who are frustrated with Nokia.

In any event, these snipes are nothing compared to some of the crap on here.

"Please search before posting" is what might have been to said to you. Now that you have posted, somebody will likely move the thread or kill it.

And please: Don't Feed The Trolls

Just merge the threads.

No big deal.

The op asked a legitimate question.

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious but there seems way too much defensiveness going on here. No-one "attacked" the OP, nosa101 simply said that ZePPerT "probably" doesnt want to be installing MeeGo if he's having to be asking for a step-by-step guide.

This is perfectly sound logic and is simply helping ZePPerT out, generally speaking anyone that needs to ask for a step-by-step guide posted on a forum rather than just finding the info (which is there, in countless places) or figure it out for themselves (which is very straightforward) is a user, and the current MeeGo release as far as the N900 goes is in no way, remotely, whatsoever, a user image. It's a command line. Thats it. Nothing else to it. From a user perspective, theyll install it, see a command prompt, and go "oh.". Then theyll be back here asking more already-asked-a-million-times questions about "wheres the rest of it" followed by asking how to get Maemo back onto the device.
Giving an up-front answer to the OP to try to avoid all that isnt "attacking" anyone.

I would also ask, purely for curiosity, exactly what someone who doesnt have time to find the install instructions on the meego site (which effectively is a step-by-step guide, and takes 30 seconds to locate) has time to do with a blank install of MeeGo that just gives him a command line.

If that is what had happened, I would agree. If you did not find the tone of those responses sarcastic, arrogant and rude then perhaps Norwich is not the civilised sort of place Stephen Fry led us to believe it to be.

Forums are not good for emoting. No amount of little smilies will ever fix that. That's why a little thought is required as to whether, in real life, you would really talk to people in the way you have typed a message on here.

The socially-stunted have always found a home on the internet but some people are just rude.

nosa101 said, in full:

"you probably don't want it if you have to ask for a step by step guide"

If you see that reply as sarcastic, it's most likely because you're intentionally doing so. I would say it's perhaps you that lives in the uncivilized place if you automatically take the attitude that anything anyone says must be rude if they didnt sprinkle what they said with flowers and bunnies, instead of just giving them the benefit of the doubt if you arent wholly sure you're understanding what they said in the way they meant it.
There's no rudeness in the reply, no assault against the OP, it's just a short and to-the-point reply that, basically, gives the OP the answer that avoids the most hassle.

So.. I can certainly see why the OP is feeling a bit attacked. He starts a thread and immediately gets apprehensive responses - which then puts him on the defensive- and following that a guy telling him, in a rather down-their-nose way, that he's the non-community minded one.

I don't disagree that search would have answer the bulk of his questions (although, I'm not sure there actually *is* a step-by-step howto on getting the N900 to Dual Boot Meego) - but the approach of the responses and the defensiveness of the OP contributed to a rather unwelcome atmosphere in this particular thread.

easy step by step solution is just to make a wish with closed eyes =)

anyway what you are waiting from people when you (system admin that has to know RTFM) and an other 10 people are posting abut meego update every 10 minutes. even you don't search. you can look in active topic and you see at least several meego threads there. and does search takes more time than writitng the post? or why wouldn't you check the "check for similar threads" thing when you posting?

and if you say that we are sooo bad, why would you say something like that about Nokia?

P.S. Are you administrating Windows?

A simple search would have solved the OP's problem
