...I still don't get the benefit of portrait mode. Sure, its useful in a couple of specific apps - like FBreader and the phone application - But for general use? I mean, most of the time you'll have the keyboard out anyway, which means you are going to be using it in landscape mode.

Stop joking please, there are a lot of people asking for portrait mode, because it helps a lot at their works. In my work, I need my n900 apps when solving a lot of jobs. These hand-jobs are consuming hours and hours every day for me.
We need portrait coming. We need hand-jobs more pleasant.
I will stick to this great phone & will get my self N9 when coming ( of course, the N900 will be with me, no way to get rid of it ..
