You should add Extras repository. There are a lot of useful apps.
Also, you can try Extras-testing. Careful with Extras-devel, though.
But as frostbyte said, if you want games out of the box, you got a wrong platform. There are also some nice emulators for SEGA, SNES, N64 etc.

If you are willing to take the more adventurous path, particularly on gaming, do a search on Preenv or a dualboot option with NITDroid (no you can't make phone calls with it yet, everything else works like on an Android phone).

Word of caution though: read the wikis/instruction pages carefully and backup everything with an app called BackupMenu before venturing onto the path less traveled.

Use the power search function on this website, it answers 90% of the questions you may have. Yes, it takes some time to get through the lengthier threads, but in the end it'll be all the more worth it. Have fun!
im not pissed..i actually like your feedback..but just like u say...i would like to take a step further..but i do not know am i suppose to play with it...im not very in to gaming....but i just want to make full use of it~

N900 has games, lots of them. Google for 'N900 mame games', 'N900 preenv games', etc. , but you need to do your research. To me putting games on N900 is just to show what it can do, it's totally optional imho.

Just state what you want. We can help.

(Don't mess around with some people who you think would waste your time. I don't know what they're up to these days)

I assume you have tried the Ovi store if you don't mind paying for games? If not try the webos manager ans search goggle for the games required.

For pinyin, you'd probably want to try mscim-googlepinyin. Do not use mscim-pinyin, because it'd cause serious problem (baidu for 'mscim-pinyin snnn' and you'd see why).

You can also try Penpower input method (mscim-n900-ppinputmethod), which included pinyin as well as handwriting input method. Depends on where you buy your N900, it may be included in your default installation.

I don't recommend you run Android(NitDroid) on N900 now, Maemo is good as it is.

There are many GPS apps out there. Tell me your needs in more detail so I could recommend one best for you.

Don't hesitate to ask if you've any question. You can't stand for some people here, I can help you in private. Just PM me.

EDIT: OOPS, just checked mscim-googlepinyin and mscim-n900-ppinputmethod are in Extras-Devel (http://maemo.org/packages/view/mscim-googlepinyin/ and http://maemo.org/packages/view/mscim...ppinputmethod/). You'd need to turn on Extras categories in order to install them. Tell me if you're prepared.

Well, each to his own. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and no matter where you go people will always have a different slant on things. Which is just my opinion

For a true Linux desktop environment with hundreds, if not thousands of usable packages/apps, with Flash and Java support, try Easy Debian, an image of Debian OS running off chroot on Maemo OS.
