Neither FastSMSEvo nor the default portrait vkb of current CSSU are workable solutions for normal, every day power-use.
If the N900 had no hardware kb and you were left with any of these two as your only means for typing on it, you'd throw it out of the window as the most useless device you ever bought.
Seriously guys, it's cool that some steps have been taken towards getting a portrait keyboard on Maemo 5, but be honest with yourselves, we are not yet at a point where you would make it a habit to use these things....?

Even the default landscape vkb is barely past a childhood state of development, meaning it doesn't even come close to a good replacement for a real keybaord! It simply has not been given any attention in Maemo 5 (a fact I've been ranting on and on about in several other threads) since the hardware kb is mostly all anyone ever needs.
The one situation where an on-screen kb really comes in handy is when holding the phone in portrait mode, hw-keyboard closed. So, in that case, a good PORTRAIT vkb would useful!

The point here is: It would make the N900 so much more pleasant and easy to use if it had a really comfortable, nicely usable portrait vkb, so I'm supporting jinnn_1989's request for more attention being directed to the improvement of what we have for now!
