Like the concept tho.
My database is 25G music + video, total files over 7000. I would not call this a small database. I do not know the upper limit of TVersity, but for the time being, it works for me. When I first installed it, I was being impatient, and I browsed the server while they are building the database index. As a result, it works most of the time (and flag an error message), but NOT all the time. Occasional, it locked up as you observed and required a reboot. However, as I mentioned in my earlier post, I unstalled the TVersity and RE-installed it, basically it rebuilt the index (took more than 35min!) and I did not even use the computer when it was indexing......, and it has NOT lock-up or hichup ever since.

So far I have been accessing my media files in tvsersity just using the browser. I like to use Media Streamer on my 770, but it does not seem to find tvsersity as the media server. Bun, what do I have to do so that Media Streamer can pick up TVersity? Thanks.

No I wouldn't call that a small db either. But as I have been filling my db for years now, it's a tad larger. Music (mp3) only is 100 Gb, complete with video it would exceed 1 Tb. Not small either. I only added music to the TVersity db, didn't get round to try video.
I use a Pinnacle Showcenter (hardware decoder with server side software db). It is far from perfect, but stable. I like it alot.

Sorry, did not mean to ignore you, but I need a little more info in order to help. I just installed the TVersity and did not make any adjustment and the 770 just picked it up. Yesterday, I found out a window media player 11 on a Vista box just picked up TVersity just like that (Sorry, folks, not win XP). Absolutely no adjustment. Of course, now I started to fine tune TVersity with bitrate/quality etc, but regarding to pick up TVerstiy, I really did not do anything in particular. Post back with your sysinfo and we will make it work. How about that?

Hah, I'm amazed. I've only had my 770 for about 48 hours now, and everything i've ran across that people say is 'easy', isn't .... but not in this case, I'm streaming like a madman on it, bloody brilliant.

Thanks for the walkthrough

*let me rephrase that, things are easy on the 770, just seem a bit overwhelming at first when you don't know what you're doing

You are very welcome. My next project will be to install VPN/rdesktop so that I can use the native player to play media files stored on server. I will cook up another step by step after I make it, or, if you or anybody willing to take up the job and walk me thru?

Stream TV signal...........anybody?

I was wondering if you've had the same problem I've had with Mediatomb. It stops playing at the end of every song (with only 20 or so seconds left). Do you know how to correct this?

I'm using 10.0 on a Debian Etch machine.

I have a different problem, or the same problem?! The last 1 second of the stream video streamed very fast, like a fastforward cartoon, audio does not do that. It happened on 50% of the streamed video and I have NOT figured out a patern yet. And I am not sure these two problems are the same or different. No solution yet, sorry.
