That's basically SpeedCrunch. It's by far the best incarnation of a multi-use calculator I saw. If you're a button fan, use the TI emulator for that buttony feel. Myself, I'm way more comfortable with a command line and C-like or Delphi-like syntax.

Push the desktop shortcut, type 1+1 and get the hint that says "1+1=2". OSK and all.

Why not give DrLaunch a try? It also auto rotates your icons to a portrait view AND allows you to choose a background for icons or to have no background on icons

DrLaunch is ok, but in general it look ugly bcuz of status won't rotate with it. It's time to release an update for desktop in order to let it rotate too

well, we get QT calc, QT photo gallery with potrait and its perfect
QT calc should be easy. i never done a photo gallery

This would be awesome BUT it MUST be an option withing settings because in certain situations the accelerometre info won't be accurate and this feature would be extremely annoying.

As long as it can be enabled/disabled easily I am all for it

And what about porting the reference applications form Meego handset?.

It shouldn't be so hard as they are Qt. Dunno if they are feature complete, but instead of beginning from scratch, wouldn't be better to port and improve these applications?

There is a calculator, picture viewer...

Question. Is Hildon Status-area open or closed? I hate the normal status-area and would love to see a new version of it, e.g. the one that Symbian^3/^4 (see E7-00) has.
