This thread is a year old, but I still hope to get some help 
I was able to compile the sources for kanjipad-2.0 in scratchbox and the binary works both in scratchbox and on the N800. But, as someone pointed out before, on N800 the recognition fails very often. In scratchbox it works OK, though I feel like without the af-sb-init.sh started it works better What could be the reason? Where to look?

Never mind. Looks like if I draw small kanji, then things work fine. I guess this is scaling problem.
I would need to see the method you utilized to install kanjipad and the actual error messages to be of any help. Also, it would be nice to know your tablet model, OS version, etc.
