I already knew much before N900 arrival that there was very high possibility of N900 not getting fraction of the support that Harmattan would be getting as Harmattan/MeeGo is fully putting Nokia's Qt and OS future into effect rather than being dev tool and stopgap.

I'm going to get the harmattan device no doubt because that's what i have really been waiting since it's announcement in 2008, but i'm very sad if N900 isn't getting flash 10.1 because the flash support is definitely the highlights of the N900(especially if you have overclocked it).

Thing that i'm actually more worried is that i haven't seen MeeGo being mentioned by Adobe. I guess harmattan/MeeGo could be the linux part that Adobe have said, but poor flash support for the first MeeGo device would be really dissapointing.

Simply put, when the HTML5 version is getting 2 billion hits a day, let's talk about replacing it then. Until then, the HTML5 w/ H.264 videos version will probably sit alongside the HTML5 w/ V8 (WebM) version... lesser utilized.

That and only that is my point. Now, what was yours? I'm aware of it's existence. I'm wondering if you're aware of it's utilization compared to the Flash version.
That was not my point in the first place, know you. I am not an expert nor regarding flash or HTML5 so I do not have a clear opinion of the matter. The time will tell the limits and possiblities of HTML5.

Clearly the fathomised 2 BILLION VIEWS OMG!!1! must be a great thing for flash. As far as I know Google and Adobe are in fairly good terms. What if they were not?

If Youtube switched to HTML5, most of the people using Youtube would not notice. Nor care. As long as it worked. Also, there lies the greatest momentum for bringing HTML5 to general public.

I really did not get your point either

it is riduiculous

flash 10.1 is available as a BETA on ONE and only ONE mobile device(the nexus one) and it doesn't have GPU support yet.

And it has only just been available this past week at all.
I agree. Why would Nokia replace a GA version (9.4) that was bundled with the N900 for a beta that offers no real benefit at this point outside of compatibility with sites needing 10.1. Also, Adobe can't say anything since Flash was bundled with the device.

I think all of this comes down to MeeGo and what Nokia is going to do about MeeGo on the N900.

So far as I know, qole is not employed by Nokia. Last I heard, he was complaining Nokia haven't ever offered him a job, unlike one of Nokia's competitors.

What I have personally noticed that Adobe has real issues implementing the hardware acceleration for flash. My eeePc using Ubuntu NB did not have a major speedup after the newest version of flash was implemented.

The change in the video of Youtube was more like being able to watch 480i instead of 360i.

The promised "HD video" using flash 10.1 is probably not going to happen for a while. Not for any device.

I do agree it sucks not to have an upgrade for Maemo, but I'd rather get a better working Meego.
Well if this is the case, then I'll be more than satisfied.

Why can't we get the beta they show cased a while back? Well if Meego does get flash I think they kind of owe it to the n900 folks to get meego onto the n900. I also bought the n900 to watch flash.

To make things even; I'm about as far as an expert of HTML5 as you. I do know Flash, very well though.

It's not about the relationship(s) in my opinion. It's about the delivery method chosen. If YouTube were to have an HTML5 variant that got the same amount of hits or they could switch to an HTML5 only method and replace the Flash method, then I'd see why people are chanting "death of Flash". But as it stands, Flash has yet to be replaced fully and successfully. Until then; that's all premature.

If Youtube switched to HTML5, most of the people using Youtube would not notice. Nor care. As long as it worked. Also, there lies the greatest momentum for bringing HTML5 to general public.
I disagree. But let's wait and see.

I really did not get your point either
I figured.

Simple really, if they never deliver flash 10.1 we all go and buy competitors phones.

There's nothing like tumbling sales figures to give a development manager a kick up the ###
