I actually like it but I doubt that it will be able to handle both functions equally, so either it's going to be a bad PSP imitation or a bad smartphone copy.

Playstation Phone. December 9th. 8:00pm.

http://www.androidcentral.com/playst...ng-dec-9-rumor

If the rumors are true, this means EXTREMELY good things for Android gaming.

Gotta agree the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (what-a-mouthful!) is a pretty bad phone for a high-end smartphone.

But the Xperia X10 mini PRO is actually a very good low/midrange smartphone.

I just hope PSP titles will remain exclusive for the PSPhone and not available in the Android Market because if they do that; mark my words they WILL botch it up!

edit: Just saw that link. The rumour may be false. Personally I think it is real, but that Dec 9th date will just be to show off the prototype ... a la an official unveiling. Sony will definitely advertise it in its blits and glamour (and sugar-coat it).

What seems really dumb is that Sony should have unveiled it about June, began the ads in Sep and began selling in late-November for the holiday season. More people with money to throw away at that time = more purchases.

I think that PSPhone titles will be exclusive to the platform. In this way, developers can MAX out the hardware as with any other platform. What's most interesting, though, is that they'll be developing in Android making porting to the App Market *that* much easier.

I have no doubt that Sony will have some special APIs, or maybe even licenses in place limiting porting. However, as development will be on Android, it will give developers another option for revenue.

This Playstation will be revolutionary the way that the Walkman phones and Cybershot phones were revolutionary. Before the Walkman phones didn't have stuff like equalizers, decent storage, and durable design (for people who go gyms) etc. Before the Cybershot phones, phones took pictures that looked like crap. I played games on cellphones and the graphics are getting better, but it always leaves you wanting more, controls sucks playing games on a touchscreen is just not very fun, the battery usually only lasts 3 - 4 hours when playing games, and lacks titles you will play for more than 5 minutes just to dick around with, if the Playstation phone can provide most of the things to replace a dedicated portable game system and smartphone, then this thing will be revolutionary like the Walkman and Cybershot phones.
