What about the white n9 it has a glossy finish may be a better option to avoid this problem.

ya after the gray layer peels off, the black polycarbonate should be there.

At a closer look, it actually looks like you have not removed the protective plastic. I find it hard to believe someone can be that bozo, but unless your device is fake, that is the only explanation.

You see, the housing itself is colored polycarbonate. The pigments are throughout the material of the plastic. Polycarbonate itself is clear as glass, in fact it is the most often used material in lenses. A scratch will still be colored, but since light reflect different, it can look to be in any color. A large scratch will still look black though. Polycarbonate does not peel.

The USB latch is made of steel. Put a small magnet on it, and you will be convinced. The paint can scratch off, but under it will be steel color (nice and shiny).

The SIM latch is made of normal plastic, but the color is black throughout. Nothing to peel.

You are not exactly the engineering type are you? LOL

Take a look at this:

It is the N9 service manual. There you see the different parts. Also the polycarbonate housing.

What is not clear??? It is of course polycarbonate but on its upper surface is a matt paint…and that is all..

When you deformate the cover the paint layer can be peeled off and it makes thouse grey spots. The same effect has in the course of time aggressive sweat.

And as to my technical inteligence. I worke in a service centre of Nokia 

It is hard to understand your English. Polycarbonate is extremely durable material, but as with many plastic types it may go white when under extreme handling like bending and tearing. Since the material is originally clear (no color) and the only pigment is black, then when under extreme handling it will go gray.

Try to put some drops of acetone on it and see what happens.

When you deformate the cover the paint layer can be peeled off( you can do it even the cover is not deformated - if you use a thinner the layer will be washed off)
So the deformated paint makes thouse grey spots. The same effect has in the course of time aggressive sweat.

The blue and pikn variants of nokia do not have such a layer.

And as to my technical inteligence. I work in a service centre of Nokia
