Same thing happened to me. Try this if it will work:

1. quit canola.
2. turn off tablet
3. turn on tablet
4. turn off wifi (if connected)
5. run canola.
6. go to settings and re activate the folders where your photos are
7. check if it works.

It's nice... but...
(and before anyone says it, yes, I know it's a beta, and yes, I went to the garage page and added this to the tracker )

I had to go back to gpodder for my podcasts for now.
The way Canola2 works with podcasts, you have to go to every show individually to see if there are new episodes. I usually check for new episodes right when I get up in the morning before I head out to work, and this would take WAY too long to do with the number of podcasts I listen to.

With gpodder, I just hit one button that says "Download new episodes" and all of them queue up and start downloading.
With Canola2 I have to go to every podcast's page and let it refresh the episode list and then click on the episode I want to download.
I'm still not sure if it keeps downloading in the background if I go to another show's list and try to download another one while the previous one is doing it's thing. It also had a download failure while getting a new episode this morning, whereas I went to gpodder and it downloaded right away with no issues.

Also, in my opinion, I don't think that it should automatically check the podcast feed every time I view the list of new episodes, it gets annoying to see it working at the bottom when all you want to do is play the show (It was pointed out to me that you don't have to wait for the refresh to just play a show). I know when most of the shows I listen to come out, and I don't need it to check every time for me.

I also think there should be a "Latest Episodes" page like VideoCenter had (which made for a great podcast client), where you can hit refresh and see all the latest shows and you could either click "Download all new shows" or individually click on the one's you want to download.

Just my 2 cents...

Canola2 is really nice, it's just not there yet as far as podcasts go.

I'm going to leave this up for the next couple of days until the normal servers settle down.

@tps: I would love to help with a roundrobin repo. Maybe we can ask the guys behind jablet.org to get a subdomain like repository.jablet.org for our use?
We'll have to plan this. It was cool how everyone pulled together to get things working, but it shouldn't have been under pressure like that.

We could ask the jablet folks to delegate the subdomain to us, but maybe we can do something ourselves without relying on *another* party to provide resources as a favor. I have no problem registering a domain, it's less than $10/yr, and we just use that.

Actually, I just registered tabletrepo.com. We can start using that. If anyone has spare bandwidth, diskspace, and desire to help out, email me at tps at buoy dot com with the subject 'REPO'. Wolf, if you can tar up the whole dir, I'll grab it from you for distribution. Also, when you email me, let me know what continent you are on. We'll set up wide area repos so we're not crossing the oceans when there's something closer to home...

I thought it was suppossed to work on the 770, what happened to the demo video I saw of the 770 in action??

Wheres the 770 love???

How much longer is the 770 build going to take????
We have it, but after some closed testing with some 770 users we decided to drop it for now due 2 main reasons:
  • gregale (os2006): no pyinotify support, so no media detection, this is a blocker we're trying to solve going back to GnomeVFS, but no luck yet
  • bora (os2007, Hacker Edition): our bora packages are compiled with -mcpu=arm1136jf-s in order to benefit from GCC optimizations, this will genreate, among other things, float pointing instructions, which are unsupported on 770. Since there is no way to distinguish regular n800-bora from 770-bora/HE we need to setup yet another repository and point users to go there, also we have to recompile all the packages (and we have a lot)

As you can see it's more a deadline related thing than a technical issue, we plan to do that, but now all Canola developers are on vacation to visit our families (most live far from partents), so you'll not have anything until January, sorry.

If there is some brave hacker there, here goes a hint (note this is unsupported, you have not heard this from me, ok? ;-)): most gregale packages (EFL, Python-EFL, ...) should work on 770-Hacker Edition, the problem is with our topmost packages, that are pure-python (canolad, atabake, canola2), so if you install gregale packages on bora and then overwrite canolad, atabake and canola2 with bora versions, you might get it working. Again, this is unsupported, don't sue us if you brick your device somehow :-P

Podcasts work for you? I went to the add podcasts screen and pasted a URL. There was no way for me to 'exit' the keyboard entry screen, so I assumed it was an incomplete beta feature. How did you hit 'enter' or get out of the url entering screen?

I downloaded canola 2 beta onto my N800 with the official OS2008

The main problems I have so far are:

1. No album art. It won't read from the .mp3 files or from a .jpg in the folder, does anyone know a work-around?

2. It only loads once. If I start canola 2 and then close it, I have to restart the N800 to load it again.

If Canola doesn't take your url the first time. click on the url field again and on the finger keyboard, hit enter.

I'm not having this problem. I can run and quit as many times as I want without restarting my N800.

Just following up....did we do something wrong? I got it installed, but it won't open on my 2007HE. Please!

To add OGG support:

add http://tuomas.kulve.fi/debian bora maemo and install my deb:
http://kenneth.christiansen.googlepa..._0.3_armel.deb
this should give you OGG support
(Yet another newer package than the earlier ones, which those posts are updated too. This one is reported as working on IRC.)
