I have two freshly-formatted N810s and would like to get this working =\

@ 39 pages over the course of 2.5 years it's a little difficult to recall all the important bits.

To clarify we now have:
[x] the activated files
[x] a way to spoof our MAC address
[x] the map files
[x] a way to spoof the date
[?] ?????

Additionally, when I have spoofed my mac address in the past I wasn't able to connect to networks until changing it back. Is this still case?

Could it be that because I never had any activated service trial or other that my setting.txt is not allowing the steps in the readme to work?

I can connect fine with a spoofed mac address, besides my preloaded library just spoofs the address for wayfinder.

It could be but I doubt it (I tested it with a clean /home/user/.navicore directory and it works).
The most probable cause is that you didn't follow exactly one of the steps (i.e, did you copy the ldb directory along the map data?).

Someone has raised a query on the MAC. Looking at the notes I made at the time indicate that it should be that as corresponds to the info in the file called mac which I provided.

The information which I included in the README.txt is clearly wrong. Quite how it got that way escapes me.

Are you able to try this and let me know, please?

Post edited to remove displaying the actual MAC from view on a public forum.

Update, I have had confirmation that this now works.

Thanks for responding and I was being silly in my initial post not jerky. Hope I didn't give that impression.

Here's my current setup with the six steps condensed:
============================================
Unzipped "navicore.zip" into the root of my /home/user and modified the file "mac" to match that in the "README.txt"

Unzipped the "home_user_navicore_ldb.zip" and moved it's contents into
/home/user/.navicore/ldb and have also placed those 3 files in folder "/media/mmc2/maps/navicore/ldb"

I've edited /user/share/dbus-1/services/com.nokia.navicore.service file EXEC string to point to "/home/user/navistart" and chmod to x flag on navistart file.
=================================

Am I supposed to change my mac via macchanger to match the one listed in the "mac" file located in /home/user or leave it alone and execute?

If it doesn't work then try again with the unchanged mac file info. See my post above, I made error in the README.txt

Hope that I didn't give that impression either (considering that my tests were done with my own instructions, with some typos themselves, and not with the ones edited by Rebski).
BTW, fakeopen.c is not necessary for the hack to work, I provided it for completeness and to show what wayfinder did to verify that you didn't spoof the mac address (i.e. check the corresponding sys file and verify that it actually comes from the sysfs filesystem).
I didn't provide the corresponding fakeif.c because I didn't write that myself and I forgot where I got it from.
