In my case, the browser wouldn't work, so I thought I wasn't getting 3G. But the status icon indicated a connection to 3G/3.5G, and I was getting data thru other apps (MfE, RSS feeder, etc.) and I couldn't find any settings in the browser that addressed it. I flashed the firmware and the browser worked fine after that. The internet2.voicestream.com APN works for me. epc.tmobile.com doesn't. I'm on Even More Plus plan with unlimited everything + unlimited smartphone web plan addon.

Maybe reflashing your device will help?

If you log onto the t-mobile website, change your phone to a nonsmart phone (I chose some random Nokia flip phone; did not even see the N900), then you should be able to pick the $10 data plan. At least it worked for me and I previously had a Blackberry.

https://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware and yes, that'll lose installed apps. User data should stay, but it's always recommended to take a backup beforehand anyway.

The standard setting wouldnt work for data but when I switched it over to the epc.tmobile.com it works like a charm. I'm on the old $20 BB plan and figure I will just still with that in case I ever switch back to a BB. At my house I'm on the very edge of the 3g coverage. I'm picking up a strong 2.5g in my basement which is rare. I'll know more tomorrow about picking up 3g. I'm in the St.Louis market if any of that matters.

I orded a blank sim online with the new $60 plan and when it got here it wouldn't connect to tmo internet.

After checking here I switched APNs to epc and it connected, but wouldn't load anything, so I called the ever helpful 611 and they put me on the 'smart phone' plan at no extra cost.

Has worked like a charm since.

I picked up some 3g and 3.5g but mostly I was picking up 2.5g. My sim card is old (5yrs). Think I'll have the sim cards swapped and see if that helps pick up the coverage better. I've been getting internet on 2.5/3/3.5g all with the epc.tmobile.com setting with my $20 BB add on plan. This phone does get a lot better reception that my old curve does and clarity is a lot better.

I just signed up w/T-Mo, $10 "web2go", and only the "Internet2.voicestream.com" APN works for me. I get 3G/3.5G (from Baltimore thru Dulles ), but I'm concerned that speedtest.net has my location as somewhere in Kansas, instead of Maryland (latency issues if all data has to go halfway accross country and back).

For those using other APNs, is your location being reported correctly on speedtest.net? WiFi on both my home circuits is correct.
