Prove me wrong? Please do try - I'm pretty sure you'd enforce my case instead. Try again, troll.

Low number of complains? Try LOOKING at Bugzilla, noob.

Guys, let's all be glad he has moved on and do the same. As he is currently unable to respond to your posts, please don't respond to his directly.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

But I had so many witty responses left.

Ok fair enough - maybe locking the thread or deleting it maybe in order?

I got two very very massive scratches on my screen after only a month and that was despite my treating the device with great care. I think it is very widely accepted that the screen is very prone to scratching although it is probably a problem with resistive screens rather than the N900. That reason alone is enough to make me glad that Nokia is moving away from resistive (in addition to the fact that whether people on here choose to admit it or not) capacitive screens are just so much more responsive.

They are two different technologies that solve the problem in different ways - One is not necessarily better than the other.

I like resistive-type touch screens because it allows you to use a stylus thus giving you more accuracy - ideal for paint-type packages, photo-retouching.

Capacitive-type touch screens are more receptive and the added benefit of using a solid cover - e.g. glass.

If the n900 was a capacitive-type screen there is the possibility of shattering the screen and still scratching it.

Sorry. There are more than enough easy targets around this place; i'm sure you'll find a place to unload them witticisms soon enough.

I would rather not close the thread but will if it seems only the OP himself is the focus of the responses.

On topic: Capacitive certainly can be scratched, but glass is harder than most materials that could be used in resistive screens. I'd still rather have resistive.

Capacitive can be scratched - and since it IS glass, it becomes much easier to damage by shock than the plastic screen of resistive devices. Glass does have more resistance against scratching, that I'd admit.

Yes agree with that. Comes down to what you use it for. I don't use anything that needs a stylus so would very much have preferred a capacitive screen for better precision and avoiding the scratching issue. The only time I use my stylus is when I have to because of lower touch responsiveness on resistive screens such as when I am playing free cell. Would prefer to use my fingers but keep making errors.
