I have made more detailed instructions on how to install the software on N900. For example, N900 does not have repository extras-testing nor unzip installed by default, so I wrote down here how to do it.
--- begin of N900-APRS-HOWTO.txt -- HOW TO GET MAPPERO WITH APRS SUPPORT
Document version 1.5 2011-12-06 by Juhani Jaakola OH1FSS
BACKGROUND
Old versions of Mappero had APRS support. To get APRS support into latest Mappero (version 3.2), the following is needed.
INSTALLATION
- install Mappero 3.2 (in Application manager)
- install rootsh (in Application manager)
- enable application repository extras-testing
See wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing#How_to_activate_Extras-testing
Application manager, menu, Application catalogs, New
Catalog name: maemo.org extras-testing
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free
- Download the following three attached files from the earlier post of mrcock
N900_APRS.zip
maemo-mapper_3.2-golf_en01.zip (rename this to maemo-mapper_3.2-golf_en.z01)
maemo-mapper_3.2-golf_en.zip
- Combine .z01 and .zip and extract maemo-mapper_3.2-golf_en.deb from them
I have written more detailed instructions for Linux newbies on how to install mrcock's code on N900. Please see the attachment.
Note that instead of trying to combine the two zip files, it is easier to download the .deb file from http://code.google.com/p/aprs4maemo/downloads/list
