Here is one example. First quite flat graph, then short charging and a big impact to idle current consumption. Then I changed to v27 and nothing similar could be repeated. More or less similar if I change again back to v34. Also flat period is more flat with v27, difference is not huge.
All settings are similar when tested v34 and v27.
Could this latest kernel update cause more current to be drain from battery?

the kernel "forgets" the defaults as soon as you load another setting and it cannot reset it byself. It requires an application that is aware that settings 600 is ignored by kernel and that one would need to specify 599 for that.
So you must have some script (maybe the one recently posted that changes profiles based on temperature) or widget that changes the profiles.

quite unlikely. I can't think of any changes that would affect the "idle" state.
note that the battery measurements are not accurate but non-linear and non-monotonic.
the best test would be to charge to 100% and let the battery completely drain under identical conditions.

there is no need for reflashing.
applying temporary but unstable settings should have no effect after it reboots.
what are the error messages you get when downloading or reverting back to stock kernel?

If your Settings - About Product is showing <unknown> after kernel mod: (It's not important but for those who care)
1. Launch xterminal
2. sudo gainroot (assuming you have rootsh installed)
3. apt-get install --reinstall mp-fremantle-*
4. reboot
note: This does not touch the overclocked kernel. So can be done with either modded or non-modded kernel. Only updates the version information.
==================
Note the changed line 3 from what you tried. Let me know if this works for you -- it worked for me. The purpose of the * above is to make the instruction apply to situations that are slightly different, like yours.

Might be.. you could open the xterminal and upgrade through that if you have rootsh installed.
1. root
2. apt-get update
3. apt-get upgrade
