I have been trying 125-800mhz... then 900/500dsp.. battery seems around the same. Definitely saving some juice on idle..
I went to 1ghz via Titan's echo command, but didnt notice much difference. It played iplayer the same as 900 mhz.. I tried 1.1ghz but it froze. then Reverted back to 900/500....
I know 1ghz will work, but I'm happy with 900 for the time being...

It's not that easy to kill a phone dead at a hardware level by overclocking.
I did try 1.2Ghz and mine locked up instantly. Reboot, reflash, fixed.

Please read the guide in my sig for some ideas and info.
It can brick. But if it bricks, just reflash to slower kernel.

Well if you're a noob and are afraid to break ur device.. Don't do it. It's OVERclocking, going over what is theoritically safe for the N900. At least, wait for a month or 2, until the first N900's get fried to have the proof that this shouldn't be done!
If in 2 months it stills seem safe, I'll do it on mine for sure! But also be aware that this automatically voids the warranty if Nokia sees that you did that!
P.S. That's my opinion. It's a real good thing for people who did it and have now a faster running device!

I don't even have a warranty on my N900 since I bought it from Canada... So overclocking's not for me lol

To simplify my question;

does random reboot = signs of trouble?

It's not a bug, it's a feature.
How could it be a problem ?
