I also had a bit of a problem with Black Dymond. It was solved by : installing the DUN cab and then manually copying the modem link software to \Windows and manually activating the .reg file. The I reset the phone, re-paired and created the connection profile in the N800. Attempted to connect, and reset the 8525 again after the connection failed. On subsequent connections all is well.
If this doesn't work for you we probably ought to try and solve this over IM, with Tony is he can join us. PM me some times and we can make a go of it.

Thanksf or that. ok, next question. Could someone help me to reg the modemlink reg file. I copied the files to the \windows directory but can't figure out how to 'import' that file. I also noted somewhere in this thread that there is a delimiter issue in the reg file that causes a bunch of the settings to be 'jumbled' up on one line? Has anyone figured out how to sort that out?

P.S. - I am finding that OS 2007 is highly unstable on the 770. While browsing, I often find significant delays as it retrieves information and periodically automatically soft restarts. I didn't have these problems with OS 2006.

Just tap on the file name from within the file manager. It should import on it's own after that.

Ok, I finally have this working and just in time to receive my N800 tomorrow (couldn't resist). So my 770 is now talking to my HTC TyTN just fine. I changed the ROM build from Black Dymond to the AT&T release build. I then installed the DUN cab and the modemlink cab and imported the registry file (missed this step the first time as I didn't have a reg program at the time that did import). I followed the rest of the steps and now have the two connected.
I hope its just as 'easy' when I get the N800 tomorrow!

just to add to this. Received my N770 yesterday and tried to use it with my Tytn running Wm6. Saw this thread and installed the WM6_DUN cab, but it still didn't work.
Tried it this morning with a pre wm5/6 smartphone and it still didn't access the net, so something else was up
Eventually looked at the settings that the 770 had setup for the tmobile UK connection and saw that instead of *99# it had put some additional characters in. Changed it, and now it works great ! So no need for me to change to OS 2007 HE, it works fine on OS2006

Brand new user, just getting to know my N770. I know *nothing* about it yet, but so far I'm really enjoying it. Enjoying it so much I'm thinking of picking up an N800 too.
However, I want to say that I can report that bluetooth DUN works on the stock N770 and my stock Cingular 8125 w/ WM5. No PDANet, DLL's, or other hacking required.
You can just use the wizard to set it up the pairing. The warning is because the 8125 does not support file transfers over BT, and has nothing to do with DUN. But you do need to modify the connection settings as above from the Connection Manager. #99* and WAP.CINGULARGPRS, etc. The modem initialization commands are important too, the AT+CG....
Anyway, it does work but not perfectly. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries before the N770 gets the connection, and occasionally I have to soft reset the 8125, but eventually it will connect. Once connected, it's mostly solid and I'm seeing good speeds for normal surfing, email, and streaming audio. I do occasionally get a dropped connection, which is somewhat strange.
My $.02:
You don't really *need* to have a tethering packaged added to your account. The official stance is that you must have it to tether or you will be charged for every kb. I've followed the discussion for years over on HowardForums; this is a hotly debated topic. Head over there and do a search for 'cingular' and 'tethering'. Lots of reading will follow. FYI, I do not have a 'tethering' plan and have never had an extra charge for the rare tethering to my laptop to check email or the news when I'm away from an internet connection. We're talking maybe 20-30mb of data over the course of a weekend, maybe once a month. No, I wouldn't use it to stream bittorrents, but in my experience it's fine for 'light' surfing and email. Again, just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, as they say.

I have the Tmobile Wing and cannot seem to get my N800 to tether to the phone.. I've installed the WM6DUN cab on my wing and it installs properly. The phone and the N800 pair properly and the necessary profile is there (DUN)... Whenever I attempt to connect to the phone, my edge icon drops off and I just have the antenna with bars... Oddly, when I look at the phone settings...even though it has DUN, it doesn't show that there is any cellular type. Is this my problem? I have tried wap.voicestream.com, internet2, internet3... I have the unlimited data plan (30$) and I understand that the pan via internet sharing is not going to work. I desperatly want this to work as this was one of the biggest reasons I bought an N800. What am I missing?? I've also re/un paired several times. Reading through the forum, Ninja seems to have it figured out and I followed the instructions to the letter. ANY help getting this figured out would be great.
I've done all of this. I've been running Black Dymond on my 8525 (really an imported TyTN branded version) for months. I just recently bought the 770.. I've set it up as you've described below. I think the problem I'm having is the BT6_DUN cab on xda though it says successfully installed doesn't seem like it is doing what it should. The reason I think that is that when I look at the BT profile on the 770 by clicking on its details, it shows me that the only profile available on my phone does not include DUN.
So - help! Please!
