yea $735 is expensive. There is a thread by the title "nokia n900 horrible", here is the link: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...light=horrible. Whats interesting about this post is that it clearifies a lot of misconceptions on what to expect from the device. The OP is actually wrong about few things and other ppl write some stuff that ppl who are considering buying n900 should know.

i'm considering getting a friend of mine to pick it up from Abu Dhabi mall, and the best they could offer is 2999 dirhams = about USD $816 (Nokia Store). anyone here know of a better price from Abu Dhabi or Dubai?

check this:
http://abudhabi.dubizzle.com/search/...esearch=Search

my friend is saying i should consider this option .. since these r with warranty (and as gud as brand new) and they let u check everything and than decide. If you give it more time you will find more of them appearing in the search and less price.

awesome stuff... i'm checking out the link you posted up. thanks for that!

my friend checked out the Nokia store in Abu Dhabi, and turns out they have the UAE version in stock (instead of the Middle East - EU one). from the youtube video that DarkKnight posted a few pages back, the UAE version has a software Arabic keyboard and a hardware English keyboard. Can anyone confirm if this is just an option, and i can change the software keyboard to English if i want to? i dont know Arabic, hence i wont be able to use it

about the keyboard: I have the UAE version of n900, and its software keyboard is not arabic, its english. The "text settings" give you the option of changing the "hardware keyboard layout" only, not the virtual keyboard layout. If your virtual kb turns out to be arabic, I dont know if you will be able to change it back to english or not, but you can ask in the forums.

About buying the n900 in UAE: Plz note that the link I posted of the dubizzle website should not be preferred. I found out something strange here in abu dhabi. The nokia stores (or any cell phone stores) that you will find in big malls/shopping-centrs here in abu dhabi, are the ones which are selling n900 for 3000 dirhams. All the small shops which are in normal buildings are selling the same device with the same warranty for ~2100 dirhams. It was by chance that my friend went to whole sale kind of big mobile phones shop near his office and asked the price of n900 (before we were about to buy it from dubizzle) and the guy told him 2130 dirhams! My friend called me immediately about it, and we did a lil more research and found about the price difference that I have mentioned above. So I located a nice cell phones shop near my house and immediately bought the new device for 2150 dirhams.
The location of the shop I cannot describe clearly cuz I'm new here in abu dhabi, but I can tell u like this: If you have seen the area where the Khalidia Garden is, the one near the big Prestege Cars building (few buildings to its right comes KFC), if you follow that road (direction: coming from prestiege cars to kfc), you will see ADNOC Patrol/Gas station, and following that you will find a pretty cool F1 shop (where F1 cars are on the display), now exactly facing the f1 shop is the building across the road, at the back of which there is a "Prince Mobile" shop from where I bought n900. There are many small shops there, but this one i liked and these guys had the largest vairety of mobile phones.

hope this helps
