But setting X-Icon-Path=/usr/share/icons seems to make it look in all the sub folders not just /usr/share/icons

I can post my desktop file if you want. I haven't made any other changes to xournal except for the desktop file.
BTW: Thanks for getting rid of ghostscript

The original author of Xournal got rid of ghostscript
The gtk-update-icon-cache is already in the postint and postrm script files...
Weird, very weird...
Everyone who installed it has the icon on the side ?
