Even I feel Rover could be a good brand name for the Maemo based phones (and tablets).

ROVER sounds like something offroad-ish.. would be good for a GPS device or something that relates to outdoor-sey equipment. I don't think it's right for the maemo line up.

@archie: Awww, don't take it personally I only referred your post because I had to explain the context of the 'robber in east european countries' beaches' remark to another poster.

How about just "Node"?

Because the device is a node in all kinds of networks: social, geographical, technological...

Hm, maybe a synonym?

crux? confluence? nexus? union? conflux?

Conflux is nice...

How about "Flux" ... like flux of communications

Rover is nice too, but it is already used in cars... confusing
