Then lets go back to alien dalvik being paid for all, who cares if when they buy for 10k users it will cost 1$, rather than 5$ a piece when bought individually (as if that was possible or already practiced, lets come up with unrealistic expectations, MS I hardly ever defrag my disk, give me a discount on the OEM windows I bought with my laptop), Jolla needs to drop alien dalvik, we just need CLI, screw the casuals.

I already said, I have no issues with making Alien Dalvik a paid add-on as well. What's wrong with doing it? Why do expect it to be free? If you critically need it, $5 is totally worth it.

shmerl AD is not an extra paid add-on, you already paid for it and you didn't have any problem with it.

Is TMO becoming an open source extremist trolling platform? This discussion is ridicilous.

Then please lets restart this whole discussion with: Jolla, I was expecting puzzle-tablet, where I pick and choose which parrts I want. I don't want camera and BT, because I only use CLI, now give me my 100$ tablet that is exactly to my liking. This is not how crowdfunding works, this is how tailors work

I really don't understand the logic. You say ExFAT is controversial. Let's assume it is. Why is it controversial? You say because it's patented, closed and crowdfounded money shouldn't be used.to pay license fees for such closed technologies.

I can follow you to this point. I don't agree, but I understand your point of view and can accept it.

But then it turns out that even in the original design there are parts Jolla has to pay a license fee for. They're just not listed separately, but crowdfunded money will be used for these licence fees, anyway.

You now have the choice to support - with your money - one more such license... or to leave it be. Bottom line is: You will not get a device that's free of patented technology Jolla used our crowdfunded money for, no matter if this stretch goal is reached or not. If you wanted that crowd funded money wasn't used for such licenses, your case was lost long before the three stretch goals were even introduced.

So what exactly are you trying to achieve except making the tablet less consumer friendly? It will not be the "free-as-in-freedom"-device you (and I) want. Never. ExFAT is not the battle that decides this. My suspicion is we're discussing ExFAT only because before this stretch goal, nobody thought about licensing at all. Which makes me wonder how much people really care about the issue.

I was answering a hypothetical question, and said I wouldn't have any problem with making Alien Dalvik a paid add-on. I'd even prefer it to be such.

So, you agree that adding controversial goals in the middle is a bad idea. Good. That's the whole scope of the discussion and not whether Jolla uses some closed parts already or not and what to do about it.

But you kindly accepted that it's not, didn't you? I guess you have to accept it here too, or revoke your whole funding.

You could wait for a Neo900-TabletEdition. Or Vivaldi Tablet, wait that already failed....

Accepted when making a decision. Not when it was added post factum after the decision was made already. Adding unknown controversial goals is bad. And if you think it's good we'll have to agree to disagree.

You are free to revoke your funding, aren't you?
