OK!... Yesterday I got the Official Released of 2008 installed on my N800... got all the repositories loaded... got most of my previous programs reinstalled and everything pretty much running great. Connection to my home wifi has never been a problem and with the new OS seemed to be even faster than with 2007 or the 2008 beta. After installing the new OS yesterday I probably logged onto and off of the network a half of dozen times with no problems.

This morning however, I am getting "Network errors" every time I try to connect. I have shut the tablet off... removed the battery... even disabled some home applets (simple launcher and om weather) and still no luck in connecting to the network.

Something else I just noticed is when I boot the tablet up, once it gets to the home screen and it starts to look for a wifi connection, the wifi icon flashes normally for a bit then stops without giving any errors or dialog. When I try to connect manually it then gives the Network Error message.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Regards...

Omega

Did you try shutting off the router instead ?
May be is where the problem lies...

Thanks anidel... and yes, I rebooted the router, but after another reboot and leaving the router off for a few minutes, all is well!

What was you said you wanted for Christmas?

One thought about disappearing cards.
I've noticed that, after a firmware flash, it does not tell the user to disconnect the tablet from the computer.
Leaving the USB cable connected will umount the cards in order, for them, to be mounted on the PC.
They should tell people to remove it before restarting the tablet after a successful flash.

May be people disconnect the cable when it's starting the mount process on the PC ?
But that's not the case, because I did it correctly. After the first reboot, everything worked fine. I also downloaded 196 MB of maps with no problem. But this morning, after trying to use the maps app, I noticed it didn't launched properly because of the corruption problem I stated. Opening the file manager and the memory was disappeared. After removing battery, everything seems ok now, but then, reading a PDF document... and error in the PDF reader saying the PDF was corrupted. A visit to the file manager confirms that the cards where empty or corrupted.

Again, turn off the machine by removing battery (freezes with the nokia logo when trying to shut down properly), turn on and everything is okay again.

This behavior is THE SAME I had before a card corruption appeared in the first revisions of os2007.

Thanks for your support. I hope Nokia is working in a solution.

Which OS are you running on your desktop/laptop ?

I've heard Leopard is having issues about corrupting data on USB mass storage devices and, indeed, yesterday it was not able to copy off some pictures from my V640i SE phone in mass storage mode (the few that it was able to copy off from the phone were corrupted)

Blah, hate that

If there's only a few ctrl sequences you need, you could add shortcuts, I have them for ctrl-an and ctrl-ap (for screen)

I can't surf with my phone anymore (I have a 6680). No problems with OS2007, but with OS2008, I can pair the devices up, but as I watch the Connection Manager, data goes out, but nothing comes back. I've tried setting up via the automatic process (Phone option in control panel) as well as manually.

Any ideas?

Obviously this helps new users to know how to get the desired result, but it seems logically, it should be the opposite. I should touch to get touch, and use hardware to use more hardware.
Of course, this is a serious problem for those of us who use VNC Viewer and have to disable the thumb-keypad-on-dpad behavior. We can't use the thumb keyboard at all anymore.

Edit: I just bopped my finger on a text field and got the thumb keyboard. So I'm happy.

You have to double-tap with your finger!

That's why to someone it was working with two fingers! it was actually registering a double-tap.

Damn them, why did they not put it into the help file at least ?
I flashed my tablet twice until I discovered it...
I've noticed that there was no "pressure" setting near the "activate by finger tap", so.. a ring rang ( ) in my mind...
I seem to only need a single finger tap. I wonder how our settings differ? Maybe I should post a picture of my finger? There might be differences in bone structure or something...
