1. I cloned OS to internal memory card, and turned on Swap. Does it help?
2. Can I install Mer after N800 boots off SD card? there are 3 partitions in the SD card, DOS, Linux 83 and linux swap. does Mer require a partition for itself?

thanks.

8G internal card has 512M dos + 3.0G ext2 for clone os + 3.5G ext2 for easy Debian (just file system, easy-deb-chroot uninstalled) + >512 swap.

I know nothing about Stardict, BUT :

Evince, available from Maemo, reads PDF and other formats.
( It also displays the left contents panel.)

Using it, I could highlight text and copy/paste it to another document.
You might check if this highlighting is seen by Stardict.

How? I did not figure out how to highlight text and copy/paste. Do you mean the version for OS2008?
thanks

Sorry, very sorry, my apologies, NOW I can't either !
(Yes, version for diablo.)

But I did it some months ago before upgrading diablo
and with a possibly older version of evince.
As far as I can remember it was with double-click+drag, as when selecting text in a web page.
( Of course, it might have been with selecting all + exporting to text file + selecting again.)

The Evince on-line manual mentions select + copy.
Might be a suggestion for future versions on the tablet unless I missed the trick.

Again, sorry I confused you !

1.) Turning on swap should help make your system run better if you are in the habit of running multiple programs simultaneously. I don't think that running the OS off of the sdcard will make it run any faster. As a matter of fact, I believe I saw that someone posted tests they had done which showed it wasn't faster unless the high speed sd kernel was used (which made the sd card faster, but more prone to write errors to the card= very bad).
2.)Mer will require it's own partition to run. You need a separate linux 83 partition. You will then format that partition as either ext3 or ext2. (there are several other possibilities, but this is most common).

You should be advised that many people often dislike the idea of using the a sd (internal or external) as swap or as ext3 because the SD cards have a limited lifetime with regard to the amount of writes that can be done on them and eventually start to fail. Theoretically, you shouldn't reach this number of writes with normal use, but it is worth considering...especially if you have a internal sd card that cannot be replaced (as with the N810).
