As far as I know, there is no CPU temperature sensor in the N900, only a battery temperature sensor. (but anybody please feel free to correct me here)
So any app like this cannot exist.

I have seen posts where some people have CPU 34 degrees etc on their desktop so thats why i got the idea, but these examples came with lots of other stuff, but I was just thinking straight temp gauge.
This wa you can easily see if its too hot and going to burn through your juice

Yes, but in these examples, they didn't refer to the CPU temperature, but always to battery temperature, this is the only value you can get on your N900. Which is very inaccurate when you want CPU temp.
See this thread, where this is very clearly stated:
Mainly its due to that the n900 doesn't have a sensor for the processor itself but the battery.

Does anyone know if this exists somewhere and if not, anyone want to have a go.
Is there a desktop widget that will show the optimal CPU temperature and current temperature, perhaps something like the below:
Optimal : 34 / Current / 98
Or perhaps a coloured bar, green bar for the optimal and temp above it, then merging into Orange and red for very hot.
Thanks
Colm
