Re: Handwriting, please…
For an at least marginally usable HWR engine for linux, you might take a peak at http://risujin.org/cellwriter/.
It's no Rosetta or ParaGraph, but it appears to work. Moreover, it's one of that...

Re: Handwriting, please…
Also, good HWR (meaning fullscreen natural writing) is much more economical with the precious screen real-estate of a handheld. And let's not forget that handwriting, contrary to thumb-typing. does...

Re: Who will ship first? Pandora or Nokia Tablet
Some 3G modems should work; it all depends on the availability of OSS Linux drivers for its chipset,
Alternatively, at least one of the SD-slots is SDIO-compatible, so if you were to stumble upon...

Re: mcedit - Change MCE settings easily!
This version appears to work. Thanks very much. There was no "update description" however, nor a confirmation of save, but I don't really need those.
Again, thanks.

Re: mcedit - Change MCE settings easily!
I started mcedit from xterminal, changed powerkey doublepress to softpoweroff, hit save, confirmed save and my entire tablet froze up, requiring a powercycle.
I'm really annoyed when I have to...

Re: Any MP3 Player Browseable by Folder?
Kilikali used to be able to, although I have to admit that, after looking for one minute at their last version with the -- bleh! -- kinetic scrolling, I uninstalled it immediately.

Re: Question about Nokia's charger
Interesting. So if I were to put a switching regulator (like this one (http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SWADJ3.htm)) between my 4AA charger and my N800, and up the output voltage to 6V, I could...

Re: Over charging?
Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Polymer batteries actually like being charged often. Deep discharges do them more harm than frequent partial charges, so you're not doing anything wrong in that respect.

Re: The Pandora Cluster Bleep
I can't say I don't understand you're bailing out, the delays have been annoying, to say the least.
OTOH, I've always thought that a project like Pandora should not be approached as a standard...

Re: Any model battery last 10hours wifi on?
Actually, it probably won't. I don't know what they use to up the voltage (hopefully a switching regulator), but it will certainly significantly reduce the amperage available. Your best bet is a 4xAA...

Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's 1974 novel "the Mote In God's Eye" featured pocket tablet computers, linked to planetary networks, but they were so ubiquitous and "normal" that they didn't even...

Re: Pandora preordered. News at 11.
Yes, because that's how I would set up a con: Ask people first to preorder, then send them all of their money back and ask them politely to send that money again. That is exactly how top conmen...

N800 to 770 transplant? "It's ALIVE!!!!!"
Maybe it's just the eggnog slurring, but I'll ask anyway: After having been N800-less for more than a month, I've really started to re-appreciate the 770 form factor. Has anyone ever looked into the...

Re: n810 extended battery
I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. It seems it would not be trivial to change the pack you have from a 12 volt to a 6 volt one -- not without some serious tinkering, that is.
As for schematics,...
