the log indeed looks normal, I have no idea why the ssid would not be visible to other devices sice iwconfig does not return failure either.

sorry to say it but usikng custom kernel when not being able to reflash the phone is a very bad idea.
you could try hooking to the serial console (under the battery, check the wiki for the pins)...
