(usually due to a webkit or opengles dependency problem)

Re: Here Is Why The PR 1.2 Firmware For The Nokia N900 Is Late

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

Good post by valtteri. I'm happy to see that. Somewhat related update on the roadmap, I still haven't received green light from marketing to publish it. :(

Here is the first draft : http://wiki.maemo.org/What_can_we_realistically_expect

Is that what you had in mind ?

I shamelessly took your idea for the title of the wiki page. Hope you don't mind.

I could write a book in response to the above but I will spare you and focus on a few specifics. ;)

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

I'm sorry, but you are not correct on this one. The N900 is a mobile computer, if might be step 4 of 5, etc. But this is perceived as such only from tech people who had some maemo experience before...

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

I apologize. I didn't mean that I expected you to make a statement on this. I thought we were talking about dealing with FUD. I figured that this was a concrete example of FUD on tmo and tried to...

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

Meego schmeego...

For the average N900 owner/user the fear is that the unfinished features of the N900 will remain unfinished.
PC Suite, OVI Suite, or Any Dang Suite support is just one example

If the reasons preventing it are purely business ones, then, yes, I'd expect an upgrade. :)

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

But whose "fault" is that? This is now the third or fourth major OS change, and each time the previous owners are dumped. I know plans change, but when the hardware remains the same it's hard to...

I kind of feel bad for quoting this sentence, because I agree with most the things in your OP and your answers to follow up posts.

Still, I think asking for quotes from commercial competitors is...

yeah, sorry Ewan. I'm totally with you actually, was just referring to Qgill's post about removing FUD and "bad talk" from the community forums.

Re: Cleaning N900 FUD

Useful maybe, but absolutely not essential.

IMHO your post - in the context of this thread - undermines the lesson I'd like Nokians to take from it: that partial information is better than no...

Something like THAT is all I want from Nokia. I don't need dates necessarily (Target months/quarters would be nice, but not crucial).

1. It shows that Nokia wants to improve its relationship...

Action and reaction. If there were more transparency about the future of the N900, then there would be less FUD. No one wants to get stuck with a device that can't be officially upgraded to the next...

If it's not on the page then it's not official (hopefully the page won't stay blank!).
