Mer is the future of the tablet. It's an OS for the N8x0 tablets that is based on Ubuntu (IIRC) and will be what we run on our tablets to give them a longer life just like Linux does for older PC's....

The new version of Abiword for Maemo is a lot more stable than previous versions, but Abiword is not perfectly compatible with Microsoft Word. Many of my more complex Microsoft documents are mangled....

Yeah, you'd have to more or less re-engineer a whole new n810 in order to do what you want to do, and if you did, you'd just end up with a unicated version of the next tablet anyways, so why bother? ...
