Re: Openoffice....where are you?

Nice mature response to an honest & resonable question or expectation. To use your words "...Who are you to..."
speak for ALL developers?

Or perhaps this is your sandbox and it is your need to...

Re: Openoffice....where are you?

i don't understand the excuses about "the IT wasn't meant to do this or that" - why on earth would you cut out functionality that a large majority of your market (gadet hounds and business people)...

Re: office software

chenyufei -
Gnumeric is a spreadsheet ported to OS2008; under OS2007 it had Excel support, but that seems to be a bit buggy the last time I heard. I don't use it to create files that I then use...

Re: unfair review?

Hi folks

I’m the editor of the Mobile Computer site and I’m pleased to see that the N810 review has provoked so much healthy discussion.

I don’t usually feel the need to reply to such things,...

Re: N810 GPS software - alternatives?

I gotta stick up for my program here ;-)

1. Roadmap is capable of generating maps from u.s. census tiger data, or from shapefiles. Precompiled maps exist for much more than the U..S. and are...

Re: unfair review?

The issue with the Nseries is that it has no focus.
Non-tech people generally aren't sure what they're for - 'Internet Tablet' is very broad.
Tech people just see Linux Palmtop and immediately...

Re: unfair review?

The review seemed totally fair to me. I own a N800, which I enjoy playing with, but consider it solely a toy and probably the first of all my devices I could do without. In terms of usefulness, it...

Re: unfair review?

Well, while the Nokia ITs might not do everything, they try to and do a great job at it. The lack of PIMs isn't because it can't do it. It could do it far easier than providing horsepower to play...

Re: desktop snap to grid

Yes, the problem you are having is precisely because the desktop does have a snap to grid feature which you can't turn off, or tune. There was some discussion in bug #2639...

Re: desktop snap to grid

i have a feeling that they don't stay where you drop them because they are snaping to a grid. drives me mad.

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.2 for OS2006/OS2007/OS2008

@bblackmoor: It's not possible to do autorouting on raster maps. MM has to have an internet connection to calculate a route. You have to get the route before you start your trip. In order to do...

Re: Palm user: is it time to move to the Nxxx?

Set your Hotsync ID on your desktop, then sync. I also tried the /usr/bin/gvm/gvm --hotsyncid="username:number" (you need the number) thing and it also works. You probably need to complete a sync...

Re: Palm user: is it time to move to the Nxxx?

Using the Palm feels like stepping back in time 5 years in comparison to the N800 experience. The connectivity on the N800 is much better and with the extra screen size the connectivity is much more...

Re: Wanted: a XML Editor

Scite supports folding, is that what you need? It isn't really a tree though so I may have misunderstood.

There is a scite build knocking around (and a .deb). You could give that a go.

Re: GPE for OS2008

Finally got my Palm data in.
Installed Palm desktop on my mac (I normally sync w/ my PC) and synced.
ISync kicked in and brought it into iCal.
GPE rejected that ical without comment.
I eventually...

Smile Home directory on external card

I sought and I searched. I looked. Couldn't find anything. So to avoid being disciplined by the forum cops, I did it myself.

This is with my OS2008 n800, so YMMV.

This requires some unix...
