yes, the bbc changed the site and the original method stopped working but the new one (see EDIT3 in my first post) works very well, even over 3g. confimed working by many now.

Just like with all the Nokia devices in the past they say the limit is what ever the biggest card at the time is. At one time they claimed n810 couldn't read bigger then 4GB card.
