Then do flasher -R on cmd and your phone should boot and contacts and messages are in contacts and messaging applications.

there is no such thing as a VLC media file .bin
if you see a vlc icon on the file it only means the .bin files are associated with vlc
doesn't necessarily mean it's a video file!

You dont need Navifirm thats only firmware downloading program.
You already downloaded those files without that program

You dont have to do firmware download part.
And you will have only 1 file in video there was folder with 5 files.

afaik if you just flash firmware everything that is located under /home/user/MyDocs is preserved which includes pics, music, videos and documents
i don't know if flashing the firmware preserves...

Who are you asking? Every phone fixer knows how to flash android so how they wont know about it? :p
You dont have any friends that know about computers?
You could just ask them to do it and tell...

yes, you can do that as well but i don't see the problem with choosing the right one..
further more you don't need to open the image with anything!!!
.bin file is fine
you probably opened it...

ofcourse the problem here is that flashing main.bin wipes your contacts, and he was trying to save them.

1. get winflasher from here (http://skeiron.org/tablets-dev/maemo-dev-env-downloads/WinFlasher_3.12.1.exe) and install it
2. open up your N9's sim tray and look for...

What Rainisto suggested was getting into your N9 filesystem so you could copy/paste what you want to computer.
That wont fix your N9 and you need linux for that.
You should try using flasher.
