Re: Bluetooth oddities
I suspect the former complaint was a bug that was fixed in the final release of OS2008. At least, I don't have that problem. Does it happen on every site you visit?
Regarding the onscreen...

Bluetooth keyboard oddities
I've used my Stowaway bluetooth keyboard with my N800 ever since I first got it back in March. Now I'm running OS2008, and it seems to be doing something distinctly odd.
For starters, it seems...

Re: Any U.S. T-Mobile users?
Yep, I set it up during the initial-boot wizard, where it asks you to first pair a phone, then choose a plan. No issues at all.

Re: Any U.S. T-Mobile users?
I regularly connect through a Nokia E70 over Bluetooth, using my T-Mobile connection. It's not very fast, but it's Internet access anywhere.

Re: Sandby Mode on a N800
To unlock it, press the power button, then release the power button, then press the middle-joystick button, then release the middle-joystick button.
I usually prefer to enable "Soft poweroff" mode...

Re: scummvm 0.10
The game Goblins Quest 3 has what I suspect is a copy-protection screen at the beginning, where you must choose one of a selection of numbers before proceeding. In most copies, any number will do,...

Re: Status of Skype?
My apologies, rickh. You are indeed correct. I really should learn more geography of my neighbors: I live next door in California.
I suppose that's very nice for all those people who live in the...

Re: Status of Skype?
I seem to recall reading an article to that effect, yes, saying it would be one way to get a free local number out of Gizmo.

Re: Status of Skype?
"Area 775" is Gizmoproject's free incoming phone number. The actual number is located somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere, Nevada. You can pay for a local number, but if all you want is an incoming...

Re: Is everybody dumber than me?
Sorry, this is the only one that I can address, and I may be completely off the mark here, but shouldn't it be (isn't it?) as simple as creating another Telepathy plugin? Or even porting Idle, the...

Re: Interested in N800 to PC video calls?
I was under the impression that this was already working, provided you used a client that supports Jingle-Video. Kopete and Gossip are two clients that ought to support video calls, but the former...

Re: Is everybody dumber than me?
I'd love to program for the N800, but there are two reasons why I currently don't:
I don't know GTK (yet)
I don't / won't have a development system
I don't have a computer at home, and...

I've been very happy with mine. I have a ThinkOutside bluetooth keyboard, a spare battery pack, and a bluetooth phone. I've used the N800 as my only computer for the past two months, and it's...

Re: modifying the config of kernel in N800
I'd recommend using "make menuconfig". You'll have to modify one of the files to get it to work, as it won't properly link in ncurses. Do a Google search for N800 menuconfig, and I believe the...

Another option is to just grab the Podcasts from the NPR main site. Their "subscribe" pages have links that allow you to directly download the latest episode.

Re: Updating software via Mac OS X
I've also re-flashed my N800 twice using the flasher-2.0.macosx application (from [1]). I may or may not have needed to run it as root, I can't remember. But it certainly does work.

Re: lots of questions regarding n800
I usually use the SSH method to gain root. Install dropbear-server, ssh to root@localhost, then put in the password (default "rootme"?). Set up sudo, then log out and remove dropbear-server.

Re: DL FLash for N800?
Opera has stated that, at least for their Wii browser, Adobe won't license anything past Flash 7. I would imagine (wildly speculating) that since Opera is also the browser that runs on the N800, it...
