Re: Cannot get more than 5mbits with the WLAN connection on my N900

No, I mean the WEP/WPA encryption. For example on my WRT610N with a Wifi-N card that "syncs" at 300Mbps, I can get transfers at about 18 MBytes/s, and if I enable WPA, it falls at about 8 MBytes/s.

Re: Cannot get more than 5mbits with the WLAN connection on my N900

Remove the encryption. You'll get wayyy faster speeds, but absolutely no security... That's one way.

Re: (sadly) selling my n900 soon, need help clearing data, etc for sale.

Well, that's the goal here, isn't it? to get it back to vanilla content without anything on it, as if it were straight out of the box?

Re: (sadly) selling my n900 soon, need help clearing data, etc for sale.

There's a big red box on the tutorial saying:

So I guess it has to be done that way ;)

Re: (sadly) selling my n900 soon, need help clearing data, etc for sale.

I would say follow the tutorial here:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware#Windows

But with a slight modification. See the line at step 2 in the second list of steps, under...

Re: Extended caller info

It can be done on a low-end Android device (HTC Tattoo/Click), which has a low screen resolution, and it's really readable. Plus I'm pretty sure there's enough space onthe N900 screen to squeeze in a...

Re: Petition - Shazam for Nokia N900

Can't someone just reverse engineer the way Shazam on iPhone/iPod Touch or Android sends data to the server, and adapt it as an open sourced app/library?

Re: How fast your 3G network is from your local operator?

Orange France, about 5-6 Mbps down, 1.5-2 Mbps up.

I was with SFR (France) before, 1.5 Mbps down on good days, 0.15 Mbps up.

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) and its release date

Full Reflash for me. I think I'm getting some crashes sometimes due to filesystem corruption, so I'll be better off starting with a clean slate.

Or MAYBE they're waiting for Flash 10.1 to include it, who knows.

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Hey noobmonkey, great app!

I was wondering, how about integrating the last boot reason of the phone? it's basically a string in /proc/bootreason and I think it can be useful to troubleshoot some...

Re: New version of OMWeather is available for testing.

The French translation is a big bag of hurt. Where are the sources so I can redo it from scratch? Not to diss the original/current translator of course, but the whole thing is riddled with mistakes...

Re: How do I detect connection status/type?

This is not exactly what I'm looking for, I'm trying to get the current status of the radio (not if 3G is enabled or not). Even though my phone is currently in Dual mode (as exhibited by dbus), I...

How do I detect connection status/type?

Hello,

I am currently coding a carrier-specific app for the N900 in Python, and I need some advice on how to detect which type of connection I'm on, and what speed I can get from it.

Is there...

Re: Anyone had a problem-free PR1.1 update?

I had, updated OTA, didn't have to uninstall any application. Then, for cleanliness' sake, I reflashed through flasher, on an ubuntu stick (couldn't get it to work with windows 7). I had plenty of...

Re: MP3 ringtones on N900

The same situation happens when you want to change the alarm tone in Clock. I filled a bug report here:

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7395

Vote for it if you feel it's important!

Re: n900 Portrait Mode

I played with my phone a little bit, and it seems it's all about timing when you open the keyboard. I'm able to reproduce it 1/8-10 times. You just open the keyboard right before the app opens...
