Its dead again. It took some longer now, but same issue.
I didn't install anything, nor did I change any settings, after doing the flashing. I just left it sitting there untouched and...

It seems flashing the eMMC in addition to the firmware did the trick for me.

I have a similar problem, or even the same. My phone also goes dead in stand-by mode and doesn't respond until I take out the battery. Reflashed twice, but didn't help.
