I find it quite annoying as well. The app manager is so convenient. Going to the browser is a real pain.

An Ovi icon(for App Manager) exists in background images of the default theme though.
So I suppose Ovi may be supported by App Manager in the future.

when i upgraded to the new FW i opted not to back anything up and started fresh. hence, i needed to re-install some apps, and it took me 10 min to find pixelpipe (no longer in the maemo repo) and figured out i had to go to the ovi store

Oddly enough the commandline apt tools work perfectly well for installing from Ovi. I wonder how hard it would be to hack the application manager back into a sane state. It is one of the open source components isn't it?

Hello guys,

I had a strange problem with ovi store.
When I am trying to install a application and find app page, in the place mentioned how many Kb or Mb is the program always is displayed 0,0 Kb.

Does anyone has same problem?
Regards.

That;'s because what they are sending yuo is a link, which has no 'content'.

The great thing is that now they are selling MMS videos! So far, they have got exactly nothing right.

Interesting.. Is there an Ovi store server I can simply add to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list?

Why doesn't maemo use /etc/apt/source.list, isn't that the normal convention?

-- edit:

Tried to find the URL in an Ovi .install file, but it appears they use an id instead of a URL...

offscr-electric-beams.install (Ovi store app)
Code:
[install]
catalogues = nokia-ovi-store
package   = offscr-electric-beams

[nokia-ovi-store]
id = ovi
file=variant-catalogues
Facebook.install (regular nokia app)
Code:
[install]
catalogues = nokia-apps
package   = facebook-services

[nokia-apps]
name = Nokia Applications
uri = https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/
dist = ./

Could this be it (already there)?
Code:
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list:deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ovi/ ./

ok, so it is already in there

I can find the 'ovi' app using apt-get:
Code:
n900:~# apt-cache search offscr-electric-beams
offscr-electric-beams - Beam up! Play a retro-style laser beam game on your touch device!
and it does not show up in the application manager when I search for "offscr-electric-beams" (application name and description).

I think I'll be using apt-get from now on

clicking on the link in the page wasn't working (HAM would load, tink for a bit and then do nothing and just sit there), using Synaptic Pakacge Manager for Maemo i could find the thing i wanted to install and get it installed (it doesn't quite fit on the screen, but is borderline usable)

edit:btw, why it will only let me load the .mobi version?
