@thedead

I do like the feel of the portrait-side swiping on the N9, but I think it comes at a compromise. It uses space up that could've been more screen.

It effectively shaves off screen estate from both edges because of the 16:9 proportion. It makes videos that much worse. Or browsing that much difficult. Or reading that much more frustrating.

I think on a mobile device each 1mm is precious, whereas on 10in tablets you can get away with some "flaws" and even moreso on a 13in laptop.

Everyone in my office loves the N9. They all have iPhones and Androids and the one thing they agree on is how much they like Meego and the N9. That being said I don't recommend it to any of them. While I love it I am sure they would find it frustrating as it is not as app centric as other mobile OS's.

Elop knew that. That's why he killed it off.

Jolla crew knew it as well. Thank God.

I've lost count of the number of times people have had this reaction to it and then I have to tell them all the reasons I wouldn't recommend it to them specifically (being they are non-technical iphone/droid users in the US who wouldn't want to deal with the headache of obtaining one, lack of warranty/support, etc).

The look on their face is like giving a kid a present and then taking it away, saying 'just kidding'. Damn you nokia for putting me in this position.

THIS. I've had several people ask me about my gorgeous, easy phone, and i've had to say to them "umm, no, i wouldnt get one, get an android."
