I highly doubt you'll be able to sell it, especially at the price of 2-3 n950's...

What are you getting out of this? Why is it worth wasting all this time and money for this project?
why do you think he wants to resell it?

probably he is a collector

if he is, these n950 are in good hands and not forgotten in a drawer.

regards

Being very practical it just boggles my mind... But to each his own, I guess

I am sure harmattan could run on less RAM with a bit of VM tweaking. If not, then it truely is a piss weak OS.

You could set up a swap of 1GB on the emmc partition and get it working up to speed but the frequent read/write will reduce the lifespan of the flash memory...Also you would need to turn swap off everytime you wish to plug in as mass storage...

It will be a daily use phone with a good lcd screen.
unless your daily use is limited to making & receiving phone calls (in which case one might wonder why you'd want a N950 in the 1st place ) your experience will be rather frustrating

very similar to the one on a N900, with only 256MB RAM
the 512MB would be astounding for Fremantle, but experience seems to indicate that it is not for nothing that NOKIA put 1GB in the N9 (and N950 finally)
it took them nearly 2 years to do that again with the 920 on another flagship device...

well, it's your money

i beg to differ
i have put a 2GB swap partition on my 64GB UHS µSD (speed is not astronomical, but definitely faster then N900's internal storage...)
even though the 2GB are only used marginally swapping takes place and performances decrease notably.
i doubt a N950 alpha will have a faster nand
either way... up to repartitioning my 2GB primary swap into two logical 1GB partitions

Never knew that; I was speaking from my own experience of a slight increase in speed when I put a 2GB of swap on my n9's emmc partition; changed it after rainisto posted on how to use the mtd4 block for ~500MB swap leaving 1GB as RAM instead of 3/4 RAM and 1/4 Swap...
