Most mobile phones don't have cell data available - I think most of the RF sections are partitioned off and barring a special mode can't be seen as they switch cells. However I would look at BitPim as it can access the onboard filesystem and that sometimes contains interesting things.

By the way, how does the bluetooth pairing work? I hope that the adapter doesn't have a factory default password, you wouldn't want to have some evil hacker reconfigure your harley while cruising on the highway

I've discovered that my wifi doesn't work very well on my N810 when I've left minigpsd running. What I mean is that while I am assigned an IP, I seem to have problems accessing most sites & services (site time outs). To fix I have to shut minigpsd down then disconnect (or disconnect & shut minigpsd off, either way) & then reconnect to the wifi AP. Then all's well.
I've tested this out with several difference AP's at several different locations, so as far as I can tell it's not something to do with a particular one.
Anyone else having any similar issues? TX

Put off BlueTooth and see if the problem is solved. The BlueTooth MAC address is hardcoded in the scripts; you must edit it manually.

It will survive a reboot (if you clicked save and don't reinstall from the original deb). I'm working on a new UI and conf system that will turn these off by default, and be better about finding the devices when turned on.
On the AirCable units I use, you can set the password to anything, however I have removed RS232 TX pin 3 from the connection so it is one-way only (and why the OBD unit has to start sending data from power-up).
Bluetooth itself has security problems, but even OBD-II can't do much other than to clear fault codes.
I also have a WiFi to serial port (from connectone.com via mouser electronics) which can be made as secure as WiFi.
And if I was worried, I could always use USB host mode and hardwire it - In another thread somewhere someone else needed to do /dev/ttyUSB0 for his non-Bluetooth GPS. You can specify a device instead of the bluetooth string in minigpsd.
