Looking at WiMax, I can neither find where its currently available nor where its projected to be available in the near future. I live in the Tampa, FL area.

Important note: you don't answer some simple questions for your requirements.

You say you need internet connectivity, but not where (action radius) or what for (latency, bandwidth, usw) or how much your budget is. This is important to realize because in certain areas you can get free or very cheap WiFi hotspots whereas in some states or countries you can get cheap data plans. I know some other places where a WiFi WAN is rolled out, and yet others where WiMAX is rolled out. There is no perfect, world-wide solution though. They all have their (dis)advantages.
