I wondered if we could check what the fail rate was in pre-production devices. I know Chippy's demo had a screen problem, but I've not heard of an other problems.

Do you have a link for that?
Mine has a screen-related problem (touch sensitivity on the left edge, bug 6088) but it looks like an isolated case and I haven't experienced any other hardware issues. The speakers and microphone work, no spontaneous reboots, no dead pixels.

So have there not been any? If the fail is, say, 0.5% there should be at least one out there with a microphone problem. Anyone?
I'm just curious. I know you will always get the 'odd dud'. But it's almost impossible to gauge the scale in the n900 forum because the cross people are posting in every thread making the fail rate look much higher than I suspect it actually is. It will be poor consolation for the people who got the wrong'un, but might help the noise if we can start to say "there are 10,000 n900s out there and 15 have been returned for fauilts" or whatever.
