Sorry by not having a solution for the problem but only another question:

Am I right that the normal backup does NOT include Contacts ?
I can only find Conversations, Calendar, Bookmarks, Settings and Applications
That's the reason why I exported all my Contacts via the Contact-Applikation to a vCard-Folder - just to make sure nothing gets lost.

Dont think it includes contacts. However all my contacts are stored & read from the SIM not the phone memory. So when i reflashed & restored they we're not touched.

Note that i flashed the PR1.2 Firmware and NOT the EMMC area. Flashing the latter wipes the main memory area i believe.

Yes it does. If you select 'Communications and Calendar' in backups that includes, from the User's Guide:

"Mail and chat messages and accounts, text messages, contacts in the Contacts application, calendar events, clock alarms, and alarm settings.'

for some reason, i dont see any options in saving contacts, so in theory, they are automatically saved in the sim card and their e-mails are saved in your back up emails and their social network accounts are saved on the voip settings.

Sim cards can only store a certain amount of contact so I doubt the contacts are saved there

The threads "HELP...Firmware update gone wrong!!!" and "HELP...Update gone wrong!!!" have been merged into this thread. Sukhi101, DO NOT open duplicate threads. Also, titling your thread with something descriptive of the actual problem would have been useful and probably attracted more help.

Hi everyone,

Im just wondering whether anyone can help me...I have a Nokia n900 which is a great phone (too complicated for me!) but i cannot seem to get the much anticipated firmware update which was released last week. Would it possibly be as simple as Restoring Factory settings, or deleting some apps.. i really dont know and it would be great if somebody could help.

Thanks

I recommend you look over all of them, to give you a good understanding of the procedure.

Good luck.
