Now that I have tried both, I do not agree. The point is "better for the palm".
Glass screen of Streak does not rip the skin of the top of my finger wkile dragging, like the plastic one of N900 used to do. I resorted to using fingernail or a stylus to workaround this.
And I just need to lightly touch the glass. N900 required some pressure to register a tap - again, using fingernail worked around this.

Fixed it for you. ]

I have no ripping issues. Different skin? Different screen? BTW, a fiend of mine has a matte keyboard N900. Mine are both shiny. Maybe we have different screen finishes, too?

It's STILL a preference. You've explained yours. Others differ. Neither opinion is wrong.

You're right.
People may prefer riping skin ;-)

Its a preference like still wanting to use the stairs when the advent of the escalator came out.

Capacitative screen overcomes just about any negative point through software design.

I have used tonnes of remote desktop software and they all use novel methods to control the cursor and the page movement. There is much less finger travel than resistive. Even straightforward use is not too bad:

You can use a capacitive stylus if it really bugs, even an acual BT mouse on iphone I might add.

Annotation can involve large words written on the screen using a stylus being shrunk as it is placed back on the page. e.g

Artistic software can use mutitouch zoomed in sections using a stylus for details:

As for selecting hyperlinks in super small font I have yet to find one that is worse when using a capacitive stylus than a resistive one.

I often use stairs over escalator. It can be the better choice in many circumstances.

Subjective analogies can be so silly.

Actually, I think it needs some Rumour Control. Unfortunately, there is no-one, suitably equipped with facts, who is able to do Nokia's job.

Both get you to the same place but using different methods.

There fixed that for you!

lol, I was thinking about that but I just remember seeing documentary (yes i am sad like that) on how scared people were to use the escalator when they came out and started laughing. I could see how people would be scared of an elevator though!

This was false yesterday. It is false today. It will be false tomorrow.

It doesn't overcome, it forces compromise. Some of which is unacceptable.
