How many songs the program can identify? What´s the size of this database?

Is that possible to us to add a song to this database?
In theory the number is in the hundreds of millions. In practice (for now) we're *way* below that but we're enabling more songs by the minute. You can't manually add songs (for security/spam reasons) but we do learn from the contents of your library so in essence you are indirectly adding songs. Unfortunately, we can only learn from your library if you use our desktop app (currently available only for mac, coming soon to windows and linux).

I tried the latest version of this today and it's so close to what I need that it hurts. There's just one small thing that needs fixing.

When I go Library->Artist and pick an artist, if they have more than one album, all the albums are in the same list. I'd like to be able to open one album at a time, so when I select an artist, if there are multiple albums, I'd like to be able to pick the one I want to listen to and open just that one. I could search by album, but I tend to think of what band I want to listen to first, then what album. I can't do this right now, while the default media player does this fine. The current system dumps all the songs into one big list, and while it is sorted by album, it's still one big list and kind of cumbersome.

Also, if features are being requested in this thread, being able to access the FM transmitter from the titlebar menu would be pretty sweet. In the default media player, there's a menu option that accesses the FM transmitter settings, the same ones that are accessed in the system settings. This isn't a must-have as I can still access these settings elsewhere but it would certainly be convenient.

Thanks for your time.

It pisses me off big time the default media player behaviour you comment, I almost never want an specific album from an artist, but all songs into one playlist...

Maybe the more Salomonic way would be to have an album selection that allows all albums to be selected with one single tap...?

A better solution would be similar to the iPod's, up to at least the 4G (I stopped using it after that), where when you select an artist it lists the albums, but also has an option for "All Songs", letting you list or play everything by that artist.

hey, since about 1-2 weeks, instinctiv on my devise stopped working like the time before, it was closing after ~3 seconds when an opening internet connection was enabled. After reinstalling (recently with the newest version) this problem still holds on. So without an internet connection you can't upgrade album arts...

Does anyone know a solution for this?

also, many album arts from german artist are smaller, so you can see the smaller resolution of the pictures, maybe also any solution, or an setting-update from developer?

thank you, lingling

edit: why the hell do I find a solution only after posting the problem ~.~
my solution:
1.) delete instinctiv.

2.) get access to the root of the n900 (ssh...) and delete the folder /home/user/instinctiv in /home (yes... its /home/home/....)
ATTENTION: DON'T DELETE THE WRONG FOLDER!

3.) also delete the /instinctiv folder in /home/user.

4.) install the newest instinctiv version

5.) have fun

This should work, greets

edit 2: still downloading low resolution pictures of german artists

Good find!

I have been looking for the artwork for some time and there it is.

I wonder if this somehow slows down the whole retrieval thing and I wonder further if our members from Instinctiv are aware of this.

There is also an Instinctive folder in my N900:\home\home\user\Instinctiv\artwork but it may be a remnant from a previous installation on mine because none of it jives with what I have installed now.

Needless to say I snatched up the artwork from where you pointed in N900:\home\home\user\Instinctiv\artwork and its all good.

Later this w/e, for duty and humanity, I try to move the Instinctiv directory that you found to the directory we think it should be in, reboot the app, and see if suttin' s'plodes or suttin'.

EDIT: Well for starters I deleted the second "Home" directory and sub directories and rebooted Instinctive to see what happens...

Nothing blew up and it simply recreated that whole second "Home" directory string so it isn't a simple installer glitch. That directory location is coded into the program...

Oh well. We shall wait and see what comes next from Insinctiv.

Whatever it is, I betcha it will be good

Yea I noticed this feature was missing when I used the program yesterday. The progress that instinctiv is making is impressive. I can't wait for the next update, it should be enough to make it my default media player

today i saw there is a new version! downloaded it, and voila, there is the "identify" feature.

it works pretty good, but its really intolerant as far as metal and rock goes
it wasnt able to recognize mudvayne-songs, let alone cannibal corpse or cryptopsy.

with mainstream-music however, its working pretty well.
