I had similar kinda problem. After almost a year of use, it stopped turning up on me. Stuck in the flashing dots forever. Flashed everything that could be possibly flashed and numerous times but the problem persisted, so sent it for repair only in my case all the way to US from Australia The tracking system for courier said its been delivered today so hoping for the best...

Do not rush in it though. Check first you have understood all the parameters you give to the flasher.
I haven't cold flashed before, but I assume the hardware and software versions will have to match and with cold flashing the program doesn't check it itself but you have to check manually yourself before flashing.

Well I never. Had slight glitch with cold flash and second image, so tried warm flash back to pr1.2. That again failed at CMT and so I simply flashed root. Appears to be working as it is now updating OTA. Have had to chase up mobile provider as they have deactivated sim due to it not being used for 6 months...but fingers crossed all seems well. Greatest thanks to all that have helped with this one. Cheers

Definitely not after many hours hunting, reading, and trying several flashes, she powers up, updates and so far works 100percent. Cheers Zimon for pointing me in the right direction.

The word "cold flash" got me curious. Is it flashing fiasco and emmc image together without restart in between each flash or is it even deeeep flashing than this. Coz my N900 was stuck in the 5 blinking dots, I flashed both fiasco and emmc without reboot in between but to no successs. So, I sent it to US coz I bought it from there.

While on the thread, I got I question: I have installed enhanced kernel, swappolube, web OS games, etc etc... but when my device refused to go pass those blinking dots, I flashed like I mentioned above with global firmware (I was already using global firmware from the begining) and sent it to US for repair. Now they are saying my device is out of warranty, does any of these void warranty? (remember I flashed everything before sending it but with global is that the case? coz I know I had couple more days left for the warranty)

Thanks

If your flash didnt work, which I assume it didnt because you sent it away, then maybe it didnt restore it to an out of the box state for want of a better phrase.
My understanding is that changing the kernel or installing any package not provided by manufacturer will void warranty. Disclaimer is given at installing stage if I remember. Have they given you a reason as to why its out of warranty?
