The license and terms there say they provide no warranty _for that software_, it doesn't in any way or form remove warranty from those supplied with the phone or from the phone hardware itself.

Alright, thanks, so I was right. This does seem to be (another?) case with Nokia employee stupidity, eh? I'll still wait for more comments on this, since I got interested.

By accepting
the following License Agreement you also agree to use this software at
your own risk and accept that Nokia assumes no liability and does not
provide any warranties, support or services related to the software.
And what he said in his support request:

Hi, i am attempting to re flash my N900 using Flasher-3.5 and windows XP 32 bit, however windows fails to install the driver when the device is conneced and the reflash fails

I cannot find any mention in any legal papers so far that flashing N900 would cause one to lose warranty on any parts of the OS or the hardware itself. Not to mention the fact that Nokia even themselves suggest you to flash it if you encounter issues.

Considering that N900 is aimed as a developer phone and even Nokia's own documents refer to re-flashing several times I simply don't believe the customer support operative was indeed correct.
