Has anyone else had an issue where if you lock the tablet, you can't unlock it? Ie, it won't let you press the center button to unlock the screen and buttons?

I know that using this is unsupported, I just wanted to see if it was only me.

Also, count me as someone who doesn't like that the 'stylus-mode' view for the applications/web/contacts menus isn't available anymore, no matter if you use the stylus or not its always in the 'thumb-mode'. Using the stylus was nice for when I was scrolling through large lists of things, since more could be shown on the screen.

This did happen to me once few weeks back... I had then little bit older firmware... apparently the problem is still not fixed?

I wasn't talking about flashing.

I talked about this feature:

<open control panel>
clip from UG:
Clear device data
To clear all data from the device, select 'menu' > Tools >
Clear device.... This function removes all data from the
internal non-removable memory card in your Nokia N810
Internet Tablet.

I'm not suggest you to try this one

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be yet.

I had that same problem though somewhat rarely on IT2007. Haven't had it on IT2008.

This may have been already said, but...:

For a community that *demanded* that Nokia release a "hacker edition" of IT2007 for the Nokia 770s, it's a bit ridiculous that they can't officially get a sneak preview release of the real IT2008 into all developers hands, and not just the womworld folk via early hardware.

Even with all the Leopard nonsense that went around with Mac developers not having the release build to test on, they still had pre-GM builds of the actual OS to install -- and not just target to in Xcode.

Not to mention, the N810s are officially in the distribution channel now, so if they are *really* going to release the upgrade at the same time they go on sale...well, honestly I don't see why the extra wait is necessary.

It's just another bump in Nokia getting into the computer (i.e., not mobile) business, but I suppose by the next tablet release they'll finally have figured out how to do this right.

...and includes Skype video support.
Engadget seem to know more... or is just not well informed... http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/14/n...-runs-on-n800/

There is no Skype at all for OS2008 right now, how could it even think to support video

The fact, however, that is not yet ready (skype), may be because they wanted to add video support too. Let's hope.

SO how is the battery life with OS 2008? Is it worse, as good as before, or perhaps even better?

My experience is that it is WAY better, especially the standby time.
