Giving us _amaaaazing_ bing(reminds me of this sound) and xbox360 experience also zune. Please remember to buy only MS certificated devices.
They just ditched all that multi platform pointless dreaming and started to do what apple did in year 2007. Android and chrome OS are doing just stupid things like going to tabletīs and TV thatīs just so stupid and not wise thing to do, probably google is going to announce next something as stupid as in vehicle OS. *sigh*

You're right and i absolutely agree, but 'simplified' or not, how exactly is what i said much different from what you said? Or, different from the truth? That Elop, trojan horse or not, got his job in Nokia and almost immediately set about aligning with the highest bidder?

Look at the figures and you see what I mean. Yes they've lost "some" market share in the smartphone segment but MeeGo/Qt was supposed to fix that in the near future. Why the heck throw that away before it's even released? I don't get it and probably never will.

Beautifully said. I think that many arguments here are by bruised European egos that cant stomach the fact that Nokia decided to abandon Symbian for american OS, WP7. Forget about Europe vs. America. NOKIA did the right thing by joining with MS. I bought N8 and I tell you its sitting in my glove compartment. Besides camera its OS is just not good enough to cut it in the competitive market. I also played with WP7, much more fluid, much more responsive than Symbian 3.
This is a win-win for NOKIA. They can still pursue their weegos and meegos and partner with MS that KNOWS how to do software engineering.
And Elop did the timing brilliantly. You dont want to sink with no return. Symbian is destined for history. Sure, masses will still use it for another 5-6 years and you will get your support and so on. But just like any other OS, things change and WP7/8/9/10 will give everyone else run for their money. I would be excited to be at NOKIA know, with new beginning, new cash infusion and ability to work for innovators like MS

Realize Elop's responsibility is not to Europeans, or MS hater, or Linux lover, it is to Nokia's share holder. Doesn't matter what he does, if he can keep a nokia's stock sustained growth for his tenure as head of Nokia, then he does his job.

Stupid or damaging long term decisions can always be rationalised with short-sighted gains.
In the end, the only useful purpose of a huge corporation is to amass wealth for a few individuals, not create useful products. I hope we've all learned this now.
If we want an open phone platform, we need to look for smaller companies, ones that can resist the temptation of the huge profits gained by an app-store on a locked down device and just focus on their core business.

For Microsoft it is very important Meego dies as a open source smart phone platform. Elop is going to be CEO of Microsoft after Ballmer, so think again and you will get it.
Microsoft is really scared of this open source movement, because it reveals their (NSA) backdoors, bugs and poor coding to rest of the world.
Hopefully some of the old Nokia software engineers end up in Microsoft and leak the WP-source code to the net as soon as they can. The world needs it and it is good thing to do (tm).

But the WM7 "horse" has a blood lineage tracing back to donkeys such as WM6.5, 6.1, 6.0, 5.1 that was fully neglected for too many years and Microsoft did sweet F all to maintain it (still running on Pocket IE4/6!!).
